THE TIPSY RABBIT GSP TopDog
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND OUR NAME?
Welcome to The Tipsy Rabbit GSP TopDog, also known as TTR GSP TopDog, where our passion for animals truly comes to life! It all started with a little girl in South Dakota who shared her mother’s obsession with rabbits!
Here, our beloved GSP, Tex, chased countless sticks and ran to his heart’s content with his pointer mix sister Lexi and his older lab brother Riley. It didn’t take long before we expanded our furry family to include you guessed it, rabbits! But we didn’t stop there. With the addition of goats, chickens, and ducks we built a full-fledged hobby farm. It was then that Becky started her breeding career, primarily with rabbits and thus, the Tipsy Rabbit was born!
As bird dog enthusiasts, we’ve had Brittanys and Labrador Retrievers, but after owning our first GSP, Tex, we fell head over heels for this breed! True to their nature, Tex was highly intelligent, eager to please, and a natural athlete. He formed an unbreakable bond with my husband and was a loving family dog to everyone. To carry on his lineage, we brought in his half-brother, Maverick, sired by a 17-time AKC champion. We then carefully selected our breeding female, Charlie, from a kennel with strong Midwest hunting lines, deep in the heart of South Dakota's pheasant country, to ensure that every puppy inherits the best traits of the breed, including conformation to breed standards, temperament, intelligence, and natural hunting abilities.
After finding the perfect breeding pair of German Shorthaired Pointers and moving back home to Texas, the Tipsy Rabbit transformed into TTR GSP TopDog Kennel. We are not just a kennel; we are a family dedicated to raising the most amazing four-legged companions you will ever experience.
We pride ourselves on producing pups with a pedigree that would make any GSP parent proud. Our dogs are bred for looks, temperament, and natural ability! Although we don’t hunt our breeding pair of GSPs, make no mistake our pups are sure to exceed your hunting expectations given the proper training.
Tex was the epitome of a GSP’s natural stamina, embodying the breed’s hallmark endurance and relentless drive. Whether sprinting through fields or locked onto a scent, nothing could slow him down. Always ready for the next adventure, he was tireless and full of purpose, a true working dog through and through.
Jewel from our 101 Spots Class at her 1st NAVHDA training. She quickly tracked and held on point beautifully with just her second quail. She was calm and collected holding point beautifully. Juno later tested for Natural Ability and was just 2 points shy of a level 1 prize.
