But that same deep-chested structure can also make them more prone to a life-threatening condition known as bloat, or Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV).&nbsp;<br></p><p>This blog is not meant to scare—it’s here to educate and empower you with the information every GSP owner should have in their toolbox.<br></p><h3>What Is Bloat (GDV)?&nbsp;</h3><p>Bloat occurs when a dog’s stomach fills with gas, food, or fluid and then twists on itself, cutting off blood supply to the stomach and sometimes the spleen. It progresses quickly and requires emergency treatment. &nbsp;When GDV happens, it’s a medical emergency.
