Intentional pairings. Lifelong purpose. A promise to the breed.

Our Breeding Philosophy

At Tipsy Rabbit, we believe exceptional dogs start with intentional breeding. Every pairing is carefully planned to uphold and strengthen the integrity of the German Shorthaired Pointer—prioritizing health, structure, temperament, and versatility.

Our goal is to produce confident, well-balanced puppies capable of thriving as beloved family companions, capable performers, and driven working dogs. We raise each litter in our home with hands-on care and a foundation rooted in early training, socialization, and deep respect for the breed’s heritage.

Our Commitment to Excellence

At the Tipsy Rabbit, we are proud to be recognized by the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. program, reflecting our dedication to Health, Education, Accountability, Responsibility, and Tradition in breeding. We prioritize health, temperament, and early training, ensuring every puppy has the best possible foundation.

Early on, our puppies undergo Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) to enhance resilience, adaptability, and development. We incorporate litterbox training, kennel training, and early obedience work to set them up for success. Socialization is key—our puppies are raised in our home, surrounded by family, children, adult dogs, and even cats, helping them grow into well-adjusted, confident companions.

We carefully breed for the perfect balance of drive and an “off switch”, producing dogs that excel in the field, in the water, and in canine sports—yet settle beautifully at home. Each puppy receives comprehensive veterinary care, including tail docking, dewclaw removal, a full health exam, parasite screening and their first heartworm/flea preventative. They go home with prepaid AKC registration, microchip enrollment, vet records, and a puppy starter kit for a smooth transition.

At the Tipsy Rabbit, our goal is to produce exceptional companions, performance dogs, and working partners who embody the heart and soul of the German Shorthaired Pointer breed.  We are proud to support and celebrate our dogs’ accomplishments beyond the whelping box, and provide an incentive for each AKC-recognized title or NAVHDA testing milestone earned—including achievements such as Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Junior Hunter (JH), Dock Diving (NADD), Trick Dog, Rally, FAST CAT, and NAVHDA’s Natural Ability Test. These accomplishments reflect the intelligence, drive, and versatility we strive to cultivate in every TopDog we breed.

Meet the Christner Family

Proud owners of the Tipsy Rabbit, we are a small, family-run kennel in Southeast Texas, where our love for family extends to our dogs. Our GSPs are more than just breeding dogs—they are cherished members of our family, and when you bring one of our pups home, you become part of our extended family.

Each puppy we raise is an extension of our hearts and home, and we will always love them—no matter where life takes them. Our commitment doesn’t end at pickup; it’s a lifelong connection built on trust, support, and the shared joy of raising these incredible dogs.

Our children, whether at home or away, play an active role in socializing, training, and caring for our puppies, ensuring they grow into confident, well-rounded companions. We believe exceptional GSPs aren’t just bred—they’re raised with love, structure, and hands-on experiences that prepare them for success in their forever homes.

At the Tipsy Rabbit, finding the perfect match for each puppy is our top priority. Through responsible breeding and thoughtful placement, we aim for every TopPup to go to a home that will love and care for them just as much as we do.

And so our story begins.

The roots of the Tipsy Rabbit run deep...

Grounded in a lifelong love for animals and a steadfast commitment to the German Shorthaired Pointer, what began in South Dakota with a little girl and her mother raising rabbits blossomed into a full-fledged hobby farm filled with goats, chickens, and ducks. A small rabbit-breeding venture sparked a passion that would lead to something even greater.

Our journey with GSPs began with Tex, our first German Shorthaired Pointer, whose intelligence, drive, and unwavering love and loyalty sealed our love for the breed. To carry on his legacy, we welcomed his half-brother Maverick—sired by a 17-time field champion—and shortly later added Charlie, handpicked from one of South Dakota’s top hunting lines.

Tipsy Rabbit was founded with a vision: to preserve and elevate the very best of the GSP—intelligence, sound temperament, and athletic versatility. After finding our foundation pair and settling back home in Texas, our program grew into a trusted name for exceptional GSPs bred to thrive in the field, in the water, and at home. While our breeding dogs aren’t actively hunted, their pedigrees speak for themselves — carefully selected for performance, health, and the kind of heart that defines the GSP: loyal, driven, endlessly affectionate, and always eager to be by your side. It’s that deep, intuitive bond that makes them such endearing companions — whether in the field or curled up on the couch.

Today, life at The Tipsy Rabbit revolves around teenagers, German Shorthaired Pointers, and a few sassy rabbits who still believe they’re in charge. From muddy paws to daily chores, it’s a beautiful kind of chaos. I’m a self-proclaimed DIYer and devoted GSP breeder who believes in building early foundations for health, training, and sociability — and in the quiet magic of simple joys, the unconditional love of a dog, strong coffee, and raising a glass to the wild, wonderful life we love.

At it's core, Tipsy Rabbit was built on love—for the breed, for the process, and for the people who welcome our pups into their hearts. We’re proud to do things differently, and we invite you to learn more about what sets our program apart.

Happy Tails & Heartfelt Words

TTR is awesome! We picked up Zeus from TTR earlier this fall and the experience was great from start to finish. 1) We called TTR early to reserve a male. I am glad we did because all the pups were spoken for before they were even born. 2) Once pups were born we got daily updates with photos, videos, and notes on characteristics on each pup. This helped us pick Zeus before our first visit! 3) TTR also sent us weekly notes re how to prepare for puppy, training tips, etc. 4) Our boy Zeus (now 3 months old) is great dog. Couldn’t have asked for a better dude as family pet. 5) TTR still checks in on us / Zeus from time to time. They love these dogs! Would happily buy more GSP pups from TTR in the future!

I brought TTR’s Everest Spirit on High (Evey) home on September 17th but our journey began much sooner than that. TTR GSP’s communication during the entire process is unsurpassed. You feel as if you are part of the process as you follow the puppies as they grow, track the development of their personalities and hit all their important milestones. Their enrichment activities and handling of the puppies ensures you bring home a good tempered, balanced and confident new member of your household. They also provide reference material and recommendations to assist in setting up your home for the new puppy as well as ways to help them adapt to their new environment and families. I cannot recommend them enough and I am so happy to have found them.

My husband and I are thrilled to be the proud owners of two beautiful German Shorthaired Pointers from TTR — Maverick (1 year old) and Mylie (12 weeks). From the very first conversation, Becky took the time to truly understand what we were looking for in our next GSPs. It was important to us to have a pair that could grow up together and enjoy long, healthy, and happy lives as part of our family. Becky made the entire process seamless. She communicated often, shared regular photos and videos, and gave us great advice on puppy readiness. Her knowledge, honesty, and love for the breed really shine through. We also had a wonderful experience with Kelly, who owns Mylie’s mom — she was so kind and her family took care of the puppies to give them the important socialization skills they need when so young. She kept us updated throughout the process with fun videos and pictures. The detailed write-up about each puppy’s personality from the Peak Pursuit litter was incredibly helpful in finding the perfect fit for Maverick. Mylie is smart, feisty, and sweet, and she and Maverick get along beautifully with people and other dogs. Both have fantastic temperaments and have been so fun since we have had them at our house the past month. Maverick is full of energy and gaining trust every day. Through no fault of his own, we are his 4th family and he is adjusting well to what will be his forever home. ❤️ The extensive health tests done on the Sire and Dam in the Tipsy Rabbit breeding program gave us peace of mind that our dogs have the best chance to be healthy! We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend TTR to anyone looking for a reputable AKC German Shorthaired Pointer breeder.

I got my GSP, Everest, from TTR shortly after graduating college. I was looking for a dog that could join me on adventures, was smart, and also obedient. Everest perfectly encompasses all of the traits that I was looking for in a dog and I truly believe that stems from the amazing job that TTR does with their breeding, nurturing, and care! Everest belonged to the TopDog class and was immediately welcomed in by my family and I; so much so that my parents got one of Everest's siblings from the 101 Spots litter! TTR does an amazing job of keeping open effective communication from the very beginning that does not falter along the way. Everest has recently turned two at the time I am writing this and I still will call and text TTR with any questions that I have regarding the breed! Getting a GSP from TTR inducts you into a family of people that are remarkably knowledgeful and equally as patient and kind. You cannot go wrong with purchasing a dog from TTR. You will be obtaining an incredibly high-quality dog from an even more high-quality business.

We have had nothing but the best experience with TTR. We have enjoyed our pup from the day we brought our little Hurricane “Cane” home. Becky has been supportive and has followed Cane as he grows. She shows genuine love for the pups even after they leave her home. Cane is a healthy and happy 68 pound puppy now and he brings joy to our home daily. I recommend them to anyone who is considering getting a GSP. They are the best!

Becky was very helpful throughout the whole process. My wife and I had decided it was time for us to get our first fur baby and I went searching for the right one for us and that’s when I stumbled upon Goose. Goose was perfect in every way and had an interesting back story to come with him. He was originally adopted by another family, but due to circumstances outside of Goose’s control he came back to Becky and I was fortunate enough to find him. The whole process from reaching out about him to going through all the steps leading up to pick up was so exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. We wanted everything perfect for our Goose and to give him the second chance he so deeply deserved. From the moment he came home with us we knew we made the best choice ever. Goose is so smart, loving, cuddly, and energetic! He brings so much joy to our lives and keeps us on our toes. I will definitely be looking forward to future adventures and possibly getting Goose another companion through Becky as she has made this process so smooth and easy. You can tell right off the bat these dogs are loved and cared for from the minute they are born and even in their new homes. She is checking in on us and goose for updates every so often, and it feels good knowing how genuine she is about us. Would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog!

If you’re thinking about getting a dog, I can’t recommend them enough! From the very first call, she was so warm and made me feel like I’d known her forever. I could ask any questions I had, and she was always so organized and detailed, which made the whole process super smooth. They even flew Lucky to Florida for me! I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out—now I have my best friend by my side, and I can’t imagine life without him. If you’re looking for a dog, definitely reach out—you won’t regret it!🍀❤️
